Initialement créée en 2004, c'est en mai 2010 que la création de Soen a été officiellement annoncée. La formation originale était composée de l'ancien batteur d'Opeth Martin Lopez, du bassiste de Testament et Sadus Steve Di Giorgio, du chanteur de Willowtree Joel Ekelof et du guitariste Kim Platbarzdis. La première chanson « Fraccion » est sortie sur le site officiel du groupe en octobre 2010. Le batteur Martin Lopez, décrit la musique de Soen comme « mélodique, lourde et complexe ». Depuis que Lopez et Joel Ekelof ont formé le groupe, Soen n'a jamais hésité à explorer et à analyser soi-même ou la société, en tant que musiciens qu'expressionnistes. "Cognitive" de 2012 s'est engagé sur la voie d'un metal résolument heavy et progressif, avant que "Tellurian" de 2014 ne voie Soen jouer librement son propre pouvoir et ses visions uniques. Leur troisième album, « Lykaia », était un voyage conceptuel explorant des lieux plus terrestres. Le quatrième album de Soen, « Lotus », est un autre voyage utilisant une perspective différente. L'album est sorti le 1er février 2019 via Silver Lining Music. Produit par David Castillo et Inaki Marconi au Ghostwards Studio et Studio 6 entre juillet et octobre 2018. « Lotus » contient des thèses sur la société moderne telles que « Rival », « Covenant » et « Martyrs » qui sont pleines de confusion et de chaos poétiques et finis. Les significations spécifiques restent cependant à la fois profondément personnelles et totalement universelles. Produit par Iñaki Marconi et le groupe, « Imperial » (2021) a été mixé et masterisé par Kane Churko, qui a travaillé avec Ozzy Osbourne et Bob Dylan. Huit chansons nettes, tranchantes et suprêmement construites qui englobent frustration, réflexion et espoir, "Imperial" est la version la plus féroce et dynamique du voyage de Soen, qui engagera immédiatement l'auditeur et perdurera longtemps après que cette période folle soit passée, ses riches détails étant destinés à en faire un album de metal classique de cette époque. The original lineup consisted of former Opeth drummer Martin Lopez, Testament and Sadus bassist Steve Di Giorgio, Willowtree vocalist Joel Ekelof and guitaris Kim Platbarzdis. The first song “Fraccion” was released on the band’s official website in October 2010. Funding member drummer Martin Lopez, describes Soen’s Music as “melodic, heavy and intricate”. Since Lopez and Joel Ekelof formed the group, Soen have never shied away from exploration and analysis of self or society, both as musicians and expressionists. 2012’s “Cognitive” beat a firmly heavy, progressive metal path, before 2014’s “Tellurian” saw Soen star to to stride freely into their own power and unique visions. Their third offering, “Lykaia”, was a conceptual journey exploring earthier places. Soen’s fourth album, “Lotus” is another journey using a different set of perspective. The Album was released on February 1st 2019 via Silver Lining Music. Produced by David Castillo and Inaki Marconi at Ghostwards Studio and Studio 6 between July and October 2018. “Lotus” contains dissertations on modern society such as “Rival”, “Covenant” and “Martyrs” that are the fraught with poetic, finitely designed confusion and chaos. Specific meanings, however, remain at once deeply personal and wholly universal. Produced by Iñaki Marconi and the band, “Imperial” (2021) was mixed and mastered by Kane Churko, who has worked with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne and Bob Dylan. Eight crisp, sharp, and supremely constructed songs spanning frustration, reflection and hope, “Imperial” is the most fierce and dynamic release of Soen’s journey, which will engage the listener immediately and sustain long after this crazy time has passed, its rich details destined to make it a classic metal album of this era.
